Patient support program for a global pharmaceutical company
We moved the program's legacy integration to a Node.js backend and rebuilt the front end, which now loads in less than half the time.
Technical detail
The program depended on a third-party SOAP service, called directly from a PHP and jQuery front end. We put a Node.js backend in between: it talks to SOAP and gives the front end a clean, typed API. The front end was rebuilt in Next.js and React.
With the new front end, desktop LCP dropped from 4.8 s to 1.9 s and the Lighthouse score went from 46 to 91, in the client marketing team's monthly measurement.
Ahead of an external security audit, we reviewed the entire logged-in area in eight days, with a test suite that simulates a malicious authenticated user.
Full stack: Next.js, React, NextAuth, Drizzle, PostgreSQL, Node.js, SOAP/XML integration, Zod.
